Position Description:

Delivers and picks-up blood, blood product, samples and supplies.

Hours/Shift:

12pm -8pm Varied Days as needed for Dept needs

Education:

High School or equivalent

Licensure:

Current drivers license in good standing;

Experience:

  • 2 years general work experience.
  • 5 years driving experience; prefer mechanical background

Essential Functions:

  • Assembles and loads items for delivery and pick up.
  • Delivers and picks-up blood, blood products and samples as directed.
  • Delivers and picks-up supplies, equipment and other miscellaneous items to blood bank fixed locations or mobile sites.
  • Assures that delivery vehicles are operational. Reports malfunction to director.
  • Maintains clean, safe and organized work environment.

Mobile Crew Chief

Position Description:

Supervises the day-to-day activities of the donor collection team on the bloodmobiles.

Donor Services

Hours/Shift:

Full-Time or Part-Time. Variable schedule based on donor services operational hours

Education:

High school or equivalent experience.

Licensure:

Class D Driver or eligible; prefer medically related licensure or certification

Experience:

1 year blood donor collections, plus 1 year supervisory experience - additional blood bank production experience considered in lieu of supervisory experience

Essential Functions:

  • Assists with the supervision and training of mobile section collection and support staff.
  •     Greets and registers donors and patients.
  •     Greets and communicates with donor chairperson.
  •     Determines donor suitability.
  •     Performs phlebotomy for the collection of whole blood units or samples. Operates automated equipment to collect red cells and plasma.
  •     Provides post-donation care and instructions, including treatment of adverse reactions.
  •     Assures proper storage of blood during collection operations and prepares for transport.
  •     Performs donor record review and data entry.
  •     Performs QC, maintenance, calibration and validation of section equipment. Reports malfunction or deviation to manager.
  •     Monitors and maintains inventory of supplies. Reports inventory levels to manager.
  •     Meets established collection goals.
  •     Assures that mobile unit is operational. Reports malfunction or deviation to manager. Assesses mobile or portable sites. Sets up and tears down portables.
  •     Coordinates maintenance of vehicles with mobiles manager. Maintains clean, safe and organized work environment.

Obtains patient samples by performing venipuncture and fingersticks from patients in a local hospital.

Part-Time. 5:45 am to approximately 9:00 am; Schedule varies over a 7-day work week, approximately 15 hours a week

Education:

High school or equivalent; phlebotomy certification preferred

Licensure:

None

Experience:

2 YEARS PHLEBOTOMY EXPERIENCE REQUIRED 

Essential Functions:

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

  • Follows SOP to properly and consistently identify patient.
  • Obtains appropriate blood specimens from patients as indicated by physician order.
  • Assures that venipunctures are performed with minimum trauma to patient.
  • Follows SOP for proper specimen labeling requirements.
  • Follows appropriate post venipuncture procedures to stop bleeding.
  • Assures that specimens are collected within established time standards.
  • Reports missed or unsatisfactory collections as required.
  • Performs specimen receiving, processing and preparation for transport.
  • Monitors and maintains inventory of supplies. Reports inventory levels to supervisor.
  • Assists with the training of new employees.
  • Assists other phlebotomists with difficult or specialized collections.
  • Maintains a clean, safe and organized work environment.

Part-Time; 20 hrs. /week; Mon-Sat business hrs as needed to meet departmental needs.

Experience:

2 years reception, clerical or other customer service experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Sedentary Work - Sitting for extended periods with occasional walking and/or standing.  Occasionally exerting up to 20 lbs. of force to lift or move objects.

Essential Functions:

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

  • Greets donors, patients, visitors and vendors. Evaluates and handles customer needs or refers to the appropriate staff member.
  • Registers all categories of donors and patients.
  • Performs department clerical and data entry functions.
  • Oversees activities of volunteers assigned to the reception area.
  • Maintains waiting room and canteen areas.
  • Monitors and maintains inventory of reception area office supplies and materials. Reports inventory levels to manager.
  • Maintains a clean, organized and safe work environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Utilizes assigned donor list to contact and recruit volunteer blood donors including face to face contact during donation as possible.
  • Makes appropriate database entries to record results of recruitment calls.
  • Ensures that each donor is scheduled at the appropriate fixed site and at the appropriate donation interval.
  • Returns calls from the donors responding to recruitment calls.
  • Maintains and updates database of volunteer blood donors.
  • Meets established recruitment goals and standards
  • Assists the telerecruitment supervisor with various recruitment and donor retention programs as assigned.
  • Responds to calls for assistance with the donor portal and rewards store as assigned.
  • Provides clerical and administrative support for the telerecruitment team.
  • Maintains a clean, safe and organized work environment.
  • Other duties as required to fulfill SCBB’s mission and vision.
